The viaducts are located close to Savona and they were built in 1950s. The viaducts’ condition was investigated on site. Several defects including the bearings, joints and corrosion were identified. After analysing the vulnerability of the bridges by FE model, several strengthening schemes were developed.  The isostatic viaduct was transformed into continuous. New cap beams, bridge devices were designed according to the requirements of D.M. 08 and EC 8.
