Cagliari Light Viaduct, Italy
The project consists of a viaduct approximately 1470 m long. Along the route, the structure is divided with several expansion joints that create viaducts with 2 to 5 spans. The decks are pre-stressed RC continuous U shape sections. In response to legal dispute, ECSD was engaged to conduct engineering investigations and independent analysis of the superstructure. My role was to assess the compliance of the principal components of the design, especially pre-stressing, with the requirements of bridge design specifications and to provide optimization of the pre-stressing to reduce the construction costs.
